CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Auburn defensive lineman DeAngelo Carter, listed on the school website as Trill Carter, was shot late Thursday night in Charlotte, according to the police report obtained by ESPN.
Carter was shot in the chest area by an unknown suspect around 11:45 p.m. in a parking lot on the 500 block of East 6th Street in uptown Charlotte, according to the report. He was transported to a local hospital.
According to The Athletic, which spoke with Carter by phone, the player was hospitalized for 2½ hours and released. Surgery was not required.
