[Forsberg] As NBA trade season begins, what moves can Celtics make?

  1. We will be attaching a draft pick to Jaden Springer to dump him at the deadline

Dumping him and replacing him with a minimum contract would reduce the Celtics luxury tax bill by $13.3 million

  2. If you aren’t touching the top 9 then who gives a fuck? Once the playoffs start you are only using like 7 guys anyways.

  3. Not surprised if Springer gets traded then Drew Peterson gets promoted. Lastly, Brad waits for the final roster spot for a ring chasing vet from the buyout

  4. Probably what we would do is trade a person like springer to ether get a cheaper and better player or a first

  5. If either Porzingis or Horford are on the floor, they can go double-big for stretches. The big need will be a successor to Horford if they think he’s ready to retire. I’d rather see them grab any opportunity to address that whenever it arises. I don’t want them to rank a backup wing as a greater need when they can patch this season.

That’s why I wonder if the Walker Kessler talk has legs. I could see Boston trying to pry him from Utah to serve as another big and insurance against one of the centers going down.

The Celtics have enough depth at the 5 for this season, but I don’t see any of them as being Al’s successor. Kessler obviously is starter-quality, so I’d be more inclined to bet on him building a 3-point shooting capacity over the next couple of years.

So with Springer as ballast, should the Celtics move two FRPs for him? Or a one and a couple of twos? With maybe Kornet going to someone for a 2nd to replenish a bit?

  6. Rumor has it, we’re going to trade the kitchen sink for Ben Simmons. That’s just what the internet told me. We’re the favorites.
