[Ian Rapoport] Chiefs coach Andy Reid indicated that QB Patrick Mahomes (high-ankle) should do some work today, and they’ll see how it goes. His first big test with the game on Saturday. Carson Wentz is his backup. In addition, Reid confirmed Hollywood Brown has a chance to play.

  1. Yeah he’s playing

I’m not sure if it’s the right play, but Mahomes is one hundred percent in “Fuck you I’m going” mode by the way he sounded in that presser

  2. I would rather us rest Patrick as long as it takes to have him healthy for the playoff push. We should be able to win with Wentz

  3. What if we sat him this week just to unlock “pissed off Pat” for the rest of the season?

  4. He is 100% playing

And it’s the right move. Our ideal scenario is winning these next two weeks and then resting EVERYONE week 18.

The problem with fiddling around with sitting mahomes now is you greatly increase the risk of giving nobody else that same rest. And this entire team could really use a break.

The guys who have been here since 19 have essentially played an entire seasons worth of games more than anyone else in the league.. just from our playoff schedule.

  5. I get why folks are talking about Mahomes, but Hollywood has a chance to play that’s amazing!

Andy _never_ plays someone the week they’re designated to return, with the exception of Butker.

So this was the first week that Hollywood _really_ had a chance to play and they’re saying it’s possible. That’s after being out since snap 1 of the pre-season. That was back before we hit full blown political ads every 30s. And he has a chance to come back and play this week.

I’m stoked for that whether it’s Patrick or Carson at QB

  6. On one hand you’d worry for him getting hurt worse.. On the other hand that week off and home field throughout is priceless.. The team needs a rest with a week 5 bye being so long ago…

  7. I would sit him this week if there is any question. Houston has 2 of the top 6 pass rush win rate guys. If he cannot escape, he will get hit for sure. Save it for the Stealers or Donkeys or playoffs.

  8. This sounds like, more likely than not, he’s playing and won’t rest until we get the bye.

  9. If they do start him, I hope they have a short leash on him.

Coaches gotta be the ones that decide this stuff – not the players.
