[Amoia] Nico Hischier is a very, very good hockey player…but so quietly.

  1. I love watching him play, very smart hockey player, great in puck possession, does all the little things.

  2. So the narrative that started to form last year, based on discussion with other fans, is that he actually isn’t great defensively based on advanced stats.

However this model seems to think he’s been excellent defensively with the exception of last year.

I’ve always thought he was great but not sure where that narrative came from.

  3. He plays against other teams best in all situations and comes out as a winner. He is capable of crazy points, he is capable of crazy good defense, ultimately no matter what the situation you want him on the ice and he will deliver. Sets such a good example

  4. Wouldn’t trade him for anything. I love how ESPN and others still carry Berdard like he isn’t a huge bust and put his picture next to Connor David and Austin Matthews and he has like 24 points and carries the C for a last place team. I’m more surprised Hischier didn’t get on the Sweden team, but I’m laughing at Bedard not making Canada. Was a great interview when asked about it lol. Our captain rules!

  5. Solid two way players need more love. Always say it and will keep doing so for as long as it’s a thing.

Only really saw Bergeron get praise for it, likely because he was the best at it and played for a big market team.

Most people just recognize the Jack Hughes’ of the game, which is fine, but I’ll always appreciate the Nico Hischier’s the most.
