Love or hate the guy at least he’s learning from his mistakes, made some good hires, and is sticking to a plan and staying out of it.

  1. >Love or hate the guy

I don’t think any Panthers fan *loves* him per se, but the tolerance levels have definitely been increasing as of late

  2. In all fairness, Reich and Rule weren’t going to be good for us long term. So it is good for him cutting and running. If he had Canales on the hot seat, then I would question things more.

  3. Yep, it APPEARS that we have found some good leadership for our coaching staff and front office. Now the key is stability – let them do their thing and sit back. I’m glad to see Tepper agrees at the moment.

  4. Honestly, I wouldn’t say he’s learning in the sense of being more “hands off”. I’d argue this says he’s finally got a group in he can trust to run themselves properly and build upon a shared vision.

The kind of control he tried to give Rhule showed me (at least) that he always wanted to be hands off, but when Rhule started fucking up, throwing everyone and everything under the bus, and the quality started declining year to year, I couldn’t blame him for being more hands on and cautious. With the team he built around Reich, he overcorrected his mistake with Rhule and brought in so much experience from all these other teams that I don’t think they had a shared vision for the way the team is built and even how it plays, so much so that there were too many different mouths to Bryce’s ears trying to give advice, sometimes conflicting from the reports I read.

Again, to me this was Tepp trying to build a team that he could be hands off with. This time it blew up in his face because there was too many people trying to be “chefs” rather than supporting or building up what Reich wanted to put into place.

If you want further proof of Tepp having always wanted to be hands off, look at how he’s operated with CFC. Once he got the structure he wanted there, he stepped back too.

He has learned. Yes. He’s learned what to look for when hiring a coach and GM. That sometimes it’s best to have a clean slate and just hire an almost entirely new FO and coaching staff.

Regardless if you share my thoughts or not, I’m gladdened to see he trusts DM, BT, and DC enough, and believes in their shared vision enough to feel like he doesn’t have to keep such a close eye on them.

He trusts both CFC and Carolina Panthers that he’s even stepped back as CEO of TSE.

  5. We got to start this season with an entirely fresh slate, so I hope we can just hold on that for a couple of seasons, even if there is adversity. We’re already better this year than we were last year, and while I wouldn’t expect playoffs next year, getting to a mid point would be amazing in my opinion.

This stuff can sometimes take a few offseasons to truly come together, so I hope he remains patient.

  6. I still dislike him intensely for what he did to that town/contractors etc in SC, but to extend him some grace we were essentially watching the proverbial “FNG” from any job site learn his job live on TV

  7. I mean, not throwing beverages at opposing fans is an improvement for Dave, so let’s not go nuts giving him credit for crawling over a low bar.
