[ESPN] Four-team race for the NFL draft’s top pick: Who has the inside track to picking No. 1, and who needs a QB?

  1. >The race for the No. 1 pick in the [2025 NFL draft](https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft/news) is becoming much clearer, especially since we [last checked](https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/story/_/id/42352442/2025-nfl-draft-top-pick-panthers-jaguars-raiders-giants-patriots-titans) in mid-November. Four teams — the Giants, Patriots, Panthers and Raiders — have at least a 10% chance of landing the top pick, according to ESPN’s [Football Power Index](https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/story/_/id/41195230/2025-nfl-draft-order-projections-first-round-picks) projections.

    >So, we called on our NFL Nation reporters to size up each of these bottom-tier franchises heading into Week 16. How did each team lose control of its season? Can it win any more regular-season games? Are there any major changes lying ahead in the offseason? To finish it off, NFL draft analyst Matt Miller spun it forward and suggested how each team might use the No. 1 pick. Which teams need a franchise quarterback, and which ones could go another route?

    >Let’s start with the Giants, who are running away as the favorite to land the top selection amid a nine-game losing streak.

  2. Eagles will will probably being playing for the #1 seed in week 18.

Also, dear God. 14.4 ppg. That is freaking atrocious. Daboll and Schoen have got to go.

  3. One thing I don’t really see talked about regarding Schoen and Daboll, it’s pretty clear the Giants know they need a QB and will almost assuredly draft one next year. The way this league works, you either get to draft one at the top because you were terrible, or trade the farm to get that pick. It’s a lot harder to trade the farm because most of the teams picking at the top need QBs too.

The Giants know winning meaningless games hurts their chances of getting someone, and even winning one more game means they miss out on Ward/Sanders. I think most people can see the Giants are tanking, and I don’t think that happens without Mara giving the go ahead. Schoen and Daboll aren’t going to tank the season without some sort of assurance they will have a chance to draft their QB, otherwise they are ruining their reputation for nothing.

I honestly think Mara rolls into next season with both Schoen and Daboll, and we draft Cam Ward. May not be popular but I am sure Mara is tired of blowing it up and I would like to see what we can do with some talent at QB. Yes this team has a lot of issues, but a capable QB can really be a difference maker and I think we have the offensive weapons to let someone succeed.

  4. The one question I don’t see asked or answered is if the Raiders and Giants end the season with two wins each who will get the number one pick?

  5. AOC back at the helm for the Raiders should give them AT LEAST one win to end the season. I legitimately don’t believe the Giants could even beat the Eagles 2nd/3rd string players so one Raiders win should do it.
