As per Ryan Hana from WWP : Buffalo was in Detroit scouting last night, per u/FriedgeHNIC. With the roster freeze tonight, we'll see what happens – "deadlines spur action" and both teams are motivated to make a change. #LGRW

Cozens and Byram are the names that make the most sense here. Could Byram be the 2nd pairing guy for Sandin-Pellikka? (edit : I want Byram in a Red Wings' uniform next to ASP).

  1. ASP isn’t going anywhere.

edit: getting downvoted for a very reasonable misreading of this post. Get a life people.

  2. I’d absolutely take Cozens, but it sounds like we’re not the only team in for him. No on Byram, and 0% chance Yzerman deals ASP.

  3. What was the rumor here? I watched the WWP and immediately went to the rumor mill and couldn’t find anything.

  4. Bo is a really good player. He can actually make a pass out of the zone. Something that we are lacking on the blue line. I watched him a lot in Colorado. They were high on him but he kept getting hurt. Still look at his play in their cup win, he stepped up.

  5. ASP is the only kid in our system that has star written on him. Kids gonna be in Detroit next year unless someone wants to trade us an equally valuable young prospect/roster player that’s a center or defensemen.

  6. Yzerman hasn’t indicated much interest in trading his prospects, historically. I would be doubtful that we will see ASP go.

  7. Didn’t the roster freeze kick in at midnight last night? We won’t see anything until the freeze is lifted.

  8. It’s very interesting news but Yzerman never parts with the assets needed to bring a quality player here. Detroit could definitely use a roster change but I am skeptical

  9. There’s nothing that Buffalo would be willing to part with that I want unless the trade includes someone that I don’t want Detroit to part with.

  10. I keep thinking we would never get anyone because the prices are to high, but then see these trades(Kakko and others) go for so little. Maybe Steve gets something done

  11. If I’m just kind of looking at Buffalo’s roster I see a few options that make sense to me.

    – JJ Peterka – German. Give Seider a bud to keep him from imploding.

    – Jason Zucker – 1year left at 5m. Could be a forward swap to get out of some term.

    – Mattias Samuelsson – Reclamation LHD 2/7 year contract at 4.28 — sentiment is that Buffalo fans are no longer all that optimistic about Samuelsson.

The only glaring need I can see Buffalo having is a RHD.

  12. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see a Berggren trade, he seems to be the only one Detroit could possibly move that have some value and would be willing – maybe even Valeno.

  13. With Byram’s concussion history, if the Wings are looking at acquiring him, I really hope the cost is cheap

  14. Byram for Gustafsson. 1 for 1. It’s totally fair and they should definitely do it and not question anything. Make it happen.

  15. Berggren, Copp, Gustafsson, Holl, Husso, Veleno, and a bag of pucks for Dahlin. Who says no?

  16. I keep thinking we have no cap space left. We have projected cap space of about 2.2 million according to Puckpedia. That is barely anything unless we got a fantastic deal or were able to ship off an expensive contract.

Byram is 3.85 per year. Could it happen? Only if they wanted to take on a bad contract and we lost some top prospects/draft picks. I don’t see that happening.

As much as we all want some sort of new and interesting spark, I don’t see that happening this year. Maybe some trade deadline stuff but I anticipate us being sellers (Kane if he waives the NTC and maybe Lyon). Not fun but realistic.

  17. I don’t think these teams are fit unless they sabres somehow think a guy like Compher or Chairot will make a difference in the room. I’d love JJ Peterka if I had a pick.

  18. Buffalo is in such a weird spot, I wonder what kind of piece they are even looking for? Usually teams at the bottom of the standings are looking for futures, but they are already super young

  19. There’s scouts at like every game why is this news lol. Very click baity from the WWP boys here

  20. For Cozens to work Buffalo would have to eat a substantial cap hit. Likely Chiarot/Copp/Compher. I don’t see Buffalo doing that, and I believe all 3 have some trade protection. Also, Cozens breakout year happened with a shooting %age 5 points above his career average. That makes him higher risk. So yeah, idk if I’d want to trade Kasper for what could essentially be the same guy and a much higher cap hit than his actual worth. Veleno and some cap relief + a 3rd? Sure. I doubt Buffalo does anything but hang up immediately.

  21. If anything happens with Buffalo I wouldn’t be opposed on moving our 1st overall pick all.

Have someone already established over a player we might not see for a couple years

  22. Just me speculating, I see bergs mentioned a few times here. But he was scratched that game. You’d expect Det to play him if that’s who has been part of negotiations. So I’d assume it’s likely not him
