Whether or not what Ricky claims at the end of the video is 100 percent true, baseball is a game of consequences, and having a major threat to steal on 2nd base sure as shit is distracting for a pitcher, and contributed to Joe’s home run.

The video skipped over that before Williams threw his first pitch to Henderson, Rickey stepped out of the batters box and called time. The umpire granted it and Williams held on to the ball (instead of finishing the pitch). I’d like to think the effort on doing that (holding the ball instead of letting it go) tweaked his arm in some way, and that’s why he walked Henderson on 4 straight pitches.
