This is gonna hurt Jed’s chances of creating our all lefty rotation.
Bit of a bummer – Luzardo has some upside if he can get his arm slot right and his health checks out. It seemed like the Cubs cooled on him, but still likel having options. With that said, there’s enough downside that I’m fine as long as the team continues to look for a top-3 arm (which I expect them to do).
Definitely odd, the Phillies did not give up very much. Wonder what scared cubs in Medicals
Think that they (the Marlins) were insisting on Cassie or Shaw, from what I read.
Here’s your proof that the reports of the cubs being hot in on it were overblown. Caba is the number 81 prospect so I think it’s fair to say the Caissie stuff was nonsense. If the cubs truly had to have him they could have offered up a much better return without causing much damage to the farm system.
Has to be the Cubs didn’t like the medicals.
Hopefully this means they have something better in the works
I’m not sure why, but everytime somebody else gets a player we we’re definitely totally in on, it makes me preemptively disappointed about us not even calling Schwarber next offseason.
I’m glad this deal fell through for the Cubs. I don’t think Luzardo is that good, especially for the price of Caissie or Triantos.
Thankful that he’s going to Philly, Marlins were wanting too much of the top end prospects for him.
I’m not really that sad about it
Sometimes the best deals are the ones you don’t make.
Man teams are desperate for cheap starting pitching. Phillies gave up a top 100 guy for him. Cubs would have likely needed to send either Triantos-Alcantara or Caissie-Rojas to get the deal done. That feels expensive for an unproven guy about to become expensive when he finally figures it all out.
