😂classic episode dk
I had a friend who used to cut grass for Wagner in Carnegie and he said a couple of times Wagner asked him to put out the trash and often it included cancelled checks with his signature ! that stash would be worth millions today and they went to the dump !
Good rant DK. At about the 4 minute mark I got vibes like the "people will come, ray" scene from Field of Dreams
A Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, to you and Dali, and your two young ones! Had to get that in before anything else … 🎄☃ I had a flash back of a 5th grade (1968?) math class when we were studying percentages. The teacher, trying to make things relevent and get the attention of 10 and 11 year old boys, asked what was considered to be All Star caliber players' batting average. The answer that was shouted out by nearly all of the boys was: .300!!! Our collection of baseball cards and the art of trading them had paid off in math class! Nobody answered with anything less. Even those of us who's favorite player was in a slump with a .250 batting average knew what to say. I can't imagine what the answers of young boys and girls would be today? "Well, that depends on his OPS, too. What was the question again?" What would the answer of a 5th grader be these days? Thanks for another great show, Dejan!
Merry Christmas Dk and fam, good stuff. The history of people, their lives and times, fascinating. I think times change but people don’t. Not the part matters most.
It is especially hard to compare players from different eras if you never saw them play. I’ve been watching baseball since the mid-60s. For each era:
60’s Clemente
70’s Stargell
80’s Parker until he was coked out
90’s Bonds
00’s Steroids/Giles
10’s Cutch
20’s Skenes (I’ve seen enough to predict the future)
DK, I HAVENT HEARD MUCH ABOUT ENDY RODRIGUEZ?? ARE WE TO ASSUME HES THE STARTING CATCHER?
Thank you DK. Merry Christmas to you and yours ! Good old times brings back great memories. Love the show DK
My dad bought me my first glove at the Honus Wagner Sporting Goods store just down from the bluff near Duquesne.
The Rangers traded Nathaniel Lowe to the Nats. Cherington being his cheap self, could have gotten a much more reliable 1Bman, but they got scared off by his paltry $10.7 mil 2025 contract. They spent over $10 mil on Chapman last year, but continue the onsidious penny pinching.
" Our team, not his"
Sell the team Bob!
