I bet the falcons front office is blaming the vikings for making kirk cousins look better than what he is. Its the same for sam, he is playing great but he is not the same without the vikings. Its the same for dobbs, 2-2 for vikes, 1-9 on other teams. There is no reason to sign him before the season ends. MARK MY WORDS, KOC will go down as one of the best coaches in nfl history
it’s like the ghost of Christmas past playing with the ghost of Christmas present! 😎
I wish Vegas would have gone after Sam and passed on Jimmy G

My favorite 2 Qbs to watch
Stop with the "then he needed another surgery" with JJ. Getting an injection in your knee is not "surgery".

The Vikings will be keeping Sam. It’s 2024. We have access to the locker rooms. His teammates love him. His coaches love him. The damn equipment managers love him. Sam has found a home in Minnesota and the cities Minneapolis St. Paul , the team and the fans, have embraced him with open arms. You can just see it in the way he carries himself. He’s having fun again. He’s not gonna wanna leave.
Dudes, You don’t get it: as much as I love him (Fight-on and Skol) it is not about Sam the Man. The story starts with the Wilfs. It took them some time to figure things out: they are real estate people. Yet, since their purchase of the Vikings, the team has delivered a state of the art stadium, a state of the art training facility, and a player support system second to none. The tipping point was bringing in Kwesi: he did not get it perfect from the start either. Yet, his choice of KOC was more than inspired, and what he has done for this year’s roster is legendary. The 2019 team was stout; yet, Mike Zimmer was never going to do it for them. With all due respect for Bud Grant, KOC is one of a kind, and what matters now is that Kwesi and KOC have made the Vikings the team of choice for NFL players. It is not about Sam: the Vikings will be analytic. They will do the same thing with Sam next year that they did with Kirk last year: give him the opportunity to stay, but let him crash and burn if he abandons ship for the big payoff. Should Sam go, either JJ or Daniel Jones will be a leading candidate for NFL MVP next year, as the Vikings build a dynasty BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT IT THROUGH and decided to build not just a team, but a system of excellence!
Worse case tag and trade Sam
I feel like your last point about the roster is exactly why we won't be able to afford to keep Sam into next year and beyond. If we had hit on a couple of great draft classes and had a bunch of Rookies playing well above their contracts you could make the argument, but with the lack of draft picks we have next year, plus the fact we're paying most of our great players good money, we will have to roll the dice. This problem only becomes more apparent if we lose flores this off season as well, as it will be very hard to find another D coordinator that can get as much out of the talent we have on defense. JJ won't have to play as well as Sam right away if we can reinforce the rest of the roster, and hopefully focus on improving the run game to make our offense less pass reliant.
Sam is the best version of himself because of KOC, JJ, Addison and Hock. If they give Sam a bunch of money, their roster will suffer and Sam will regress. It's been a great story, but so was Case Keenum in 2017. Their plan is rolling with JJ Mc on a rookie deal to stack the roster. Sam is doing really well, but he's NOT a dude that can carry a lesser roster than what he currently has.
What's Colin drinking there? was that a margarita? lol
Colin keeps talking about how Darnold MUST stay with the Vikings. Maybe they realize this?
he will be a Viking nexdt year, and we trade JJ Mcarrthy to the Giants
The Vikings still have holes in their defense that they need the money to shore up. Let Sam Darnold get paid elsewhere and take advantage of McCarthy's rookie scaled contract to improve the overall roster. If KOC is able to coach Sam Darnold to what he's been this year there's no reason to believe he can't do the same for McCarthy (who has potential to be even better than Sam). Vikings have already been through the expensive QB contract with Cousins. We don't want to go back to that again already.
The question a lot have is can you win Super Bowl with Sam on a 40 million plus contract and weaken the rest of the team to pay him. The dream is to win a Super Bowl with McCarthy before his rookie contract ends
All going to depend on how he preforms in the playoffs. We are going to be battling Hurts, goff, love, daniels for the foreseeable future. If he can't hang come playoff time no reason to keep him
Just to be clear, JJ McCarthy had one surgery. The second was a "scope", a secondary necessary clean-up procedure 😅😂❤ I'm not a doctor but that's what the Vikings insiders were saying
Stafford reitires. KOC tags and trades SD to LA get a couple picks.
the first time I saw Darnold play with USC, it was obvious,..he has moxy, and a winner's attitude. Now he is in much better shape, by the way
Sign Sam and deal McCarthy.
Our trust is in KOC. If he thinks we need Darnold, fine. If he thinks JJ is the future, we are fine letting someone else give Darnold $50 million a year.
What Darnold's done this season is nothing short of unprecedented. And he's only getting better. Darnold has 12 games this season with a passer rating above 100. It's the most in Vikings history. It's also the most since 2020, when Aaron Rodgers — the league MVP — had more.
Compare darnolds numbers vs cousins. If it is better. Keep him
I'm slowly turning over to the idea that it wouldn't be a terrible idea for a 2 year deal. But jj would be nice to see
Like many Minnesota fans I have some questions or concerns: 1. Can Sam win a playoff game? (we hope) 2. Will KOC and Kwesi offer him a deal, or will they franchise tag him to acquire more draft capital?
You can't let him walk out the door.
I have not seen any Viking QB navigate the pocket like Sam is right now and those throws are gold!
sam has earned the bag…pay him what he wants….he is a winner and has vikings in superbowl convo
Genius at work. Darnold is 1 for however and the guy from Mich is 1A. End of story,
