  1. Never was much of a fan of that guy. Seemed like someone who plays hockey for himself instead of the team. That’s not what makes hockey great. I’d rather have a kid that plays his heart out every night and scores 1/2 the goals than someone like Laine scoring more goals but making it about himself.

  2. I’m glad Zach had the stones to come out and address this. He is both such a great player and ambassador for this franchise.

  3. Zach needs to be a blue jacket forever. I think he’s just the ultimate professional when it comes to pretty much everything. He needs to be captain sooner rather than later. My ultimate dream is to see him be the first to lift a cup if the hockey gods ever allow it.

  4. Laine trying to compete with Jeff Carter and Kirk Herbstreit for biggest asshole to spend time in Columbus

  5. He screwed a 5 leg goal parlay just bc he took a couple hits and didn’t like the boo’s. Not saying he would’ve scored. But give me a full game to root for! Shoulda taken one of our boys. They play through emotion and physical pain.

  6. Zach was one of the players wanted to smoke Laine out from Blue Jackets but still Laine shouldnt said what he said…unprofessional talk.

  7. What did Laine say? Was literally just saying I was happy for him performing in Montreal even if we didn’t get much out of him

    Edit: found a quote

“Obviously, things happened, and that was kind of it for me,” Laine said to The Athletic’s Aaron Portzline earlier Monday. “I feel like we were just doing the same thing year after year. I was tired of losing and just giving up when it’s December to start focusing on next year. I’m not going to do that. That’s frustrating as a player when you’re trying to win and some people are, you know, not like that.

“They’re a little too satisfied and too comfortable where they’re at. It wasn’t really a fit for me anymore. But here (in Montreal), it doesn’t matter if we’re winning or losing, we’re always trying our best. That’s what I felt about it (in Columbus).”

  8. I’m pretty sure Laine was talking about the front office. Also, I believe Laine is an introvert, which doesn’t lend itself to team sports, media etc. But, he happens to have been blessed with exceptional talent. I can understand how it’s difficult for the guy. He is who he is, and an introvert shouldn’t be shamed or hated because they don’t fit a typical mold. I think Laine will thrive with acceptance and love in Montreal. This is not saying that the fans didn’t love him in Columbus. He wants to win. He wants the organization to want to win. That’s what feeds the guy. Montreal will be a challenge because of the media and expectations. But, I feel like Habs fans understand his personality a little more and recognize his talents. They’re a forgiving bunch with players like him. I think it will be a perfect fit, and I honestly think he meant no disrespect to his former teammates. I get how it was twisted into locker room material and probably should have been kept internalized. But he’s gonna Laine
