Ladies and gentlemen, our Austrian prince

  1. A project player that actually exceeded expectations very quickly. Feels good not having to worry about the most important position on the line for the foreseeable future

  2. Ballard has struck out consistently at QB. But the man has drafted amazingly at the OL and LB positions. Raimann, Smith, Speed, Leonard.

  3. Our O-line looks to be in great shape for the next 5-7 years. Bortolini looks like the heir apparent at Center. Goncalves has been very good most of the time when pressed into action. He’ll get better, and will be good wherever he lands as a starter in the next 1-2 years.

Say what you want about Ballard – we’re not winning the division, so it may be time to move on from him…but we may look back when a new guy is making draft decisions and really miss a GM who could judge line talent this well.

I’m not on any side of the Ballard fence. I see what he’s good at, but I want to win.

I root for the players wearing the horseshoe on Sundays, and I support the staff that’s there making the decisions. When those people change, I root for the new guys and support the new guys.
