New Jersey Devils forward Jesper Bratt is ELITE!

NHL Edge put out an article about the NJ Devils and amongst the topics discussed was Jesper Bratt.

– Jesper Bratt currently has 41 points through 33 games played this season.

– The eye test and his basic stats show that he is a great player, but what is behind this?

– I take a deeper dive into some advanced statistics which tell the tale of just how ELITE Jesper Bratt truly is.

I discuss all of this and more in this video.

  1. Dude is a stud!! What a steal, doesn’t get respect he deserves. Consistent, stays healthy, gets bigger and more jacked every season. Great video Ace, brattman deserves the love. LGD!

  2. This is awesome Ace. More videos like this would be awesome too, your content is the best bud. Want to see you do an ultimate New Jersey Devils Dream team lineup of 4 lines, 3 defense teams and 2 goalies(we know the GOT will be 1, lol)

  3. I’m not surprised about how good Bratts’ numbers are. He has been the most consistent Devils player since his first game. Always improving each season, both offensively and defensively. We aren’t even halfway thru the season and he already has 50% of the point total from the previous full year.
He needs the “A” and the Cup needs his name on it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they do win the Cup in the next few years, that he ends up the Conn Smythe winner.
    LGD!

  4. Jesper Bratt is a diamond in the rough, no question about it. In August 2017 he committed to playing junior hockey for the London Knights. During training camp that year, as we all know, performed good enough to make the opening night roster. The Devils never did send him to juniors, in fact, he’s never played a game in the minor leagues either. Now let’s look at this year’s stats: 13 goals, 28 assists, 41 points and a plus/minus of 9 through 33 games. Good enough for top 10 in the league in scoring. The only thing left for Bratter to do is add some hardware to his collection.

  5. Kudos to the Devils for picking up Bratt in the 6th round, but to be fair, it might have just been luck. Let's take a look at that 2016 draft to see what I mean.

1st round (12th pick) Michael McLeod.
2nd round (41st pick) Nate Bastian
3rd round (73rd pick) Joey Anderson – like everyone else, NJ passed on Bratt in the 3rd round. Shame on them lol
3rd round (80th pick) Brandon Gignac -like everyone else, NJ passed on Bratt in the 3rd round. Shame on them lol
4th round (102nd pick) Mikhail Maltsev -like everyone else, NJ passed on Bratt in the 4th round. Shame on them lol
4th round (105th pick) Evan Cormier – like everyone else, NJ passed on Bratt in the 3rd round. Shame on them lol
5th round (132nd pick) Yegor Rykov – I don't need to say it again.
Finally in the 6th round (162nd pick) Jesper Bratt.

I can understand NJ passing on Bratt to pick McLeod. Even Bastian is understandable as he was somewhat known as a prospect. But those other guys didn't amount to a whole lot.

One last note. In October of 2020, Anderson was traded to Toronto in exchange for Andreas Johnsson. In February 2023, Johnsson was included in the trade with San Jose that brought TIMO MEIER to NJ.

Overall, it was a pretty good draft for NJ.

  6. "8x 1-year deals", I've kinda thought that whether hughes or hischer is hot is dependent on whether bratt is playing with them at least in prior years. being a play driver as a winger is impressive. I kinda wish I collected more bratt game worns. my collection is a bit more skewed to the captain.

  7. I just got into an argument with someone who is asleep and happy that Bratt is "finally" using the body. But in reality, with the exception of a Sam Reinhart, this dude has more hits than anyone that has scored more points than he has. Annnd only by 3 hits. The kid is a stud, my favorite player since he joined the team on day 1, and the best player on this team IMO. Lets fucking goooo Devils!!!!

  8. The comedy that there were Devils fans that wanted to trade Bratt away because he was thought to be a one-dimensional player. What we saw in the last game is that a players game can evolve. 🤣 Bratt is dynamic, and you don't trade players like that away.
