[Glover] Gleyber Torres declined an opportunity to play for the Washington Nationals due to them wanting to put him at 3B, per Jon Heyman.

  1. That would have been cool for them but wasn’t Gleyber kind of bad over there?

    idk

Nats need to do something about that infield defense.

  2. So now he’s turned down the Angels and the Nationals. Coming off a bad few years but a pretty good 2nd half of 2024 and a good showing leading off in the playoffs. I’m a little surprised he feels the market will let him be so selective

  3. Are you sure it’s not because other teams want him that are better? I’m sure if the Dodgers said we want you to play third he’d be at 3rd every game.

  4. Gleyber should consider moving to 3b. His arm is great it’s his range that’s bad. You don’t really need great range at 3B, you do need a rocket arm tho which he has. He just isn’t cut out for 2b

  5. Deos he realize he’s at a point in his career that moving to 3B might help him showcase his versatility?

He’s not an amazing 2B. He shouldn’t be holding out like this

  6. Come to Miami! You can play 2B and never have to worry about anyone criticizing your play!

    (Cause nobody’s watching)

  7. A lot of people shitting on Gleyber but I feel like 3B would be good for him. There’s much more reaction involved and a lazy ground ball to 3B isn’t anywhere near as lazy as a lazy ground ball to 2B is.

Gleyber’s problem is that he gets bored, sometimes it feels like he gets bored as the ball is put in play. Hard hit balls and reaction plays at 2B were not his problem. His issues were slow stuff, weak popups, and general baseball IQ. His baseball IQ when he doesn’t have the ball is like single digits, and while a 2B isn’t the quite field general that a SS is, he still messes up a lot of simple tasks.

If a team does convince him to play 3B, I honestly think it would fix, or at least mask, a lot of that boredom and low IQ stuff that he seems to struggle the most with.

  8. Nationals have a prospect (Brady House) waiting at 3B, ETA is sometime this season. This was absolutely an attempt by Mike Rizzo to show he could play 3B to flip him at the trade deadline if House is ready.

Not a bad strategy if it works? Maybe some guys don’t want to play that game?

  9. Translation- I ain’t going from one of the best organizations in sports to one of the worst. Eff that.

  10. I don’t know much about technical baseball, but it seems to me that third is a more difficult and skilled position than second, and he sucks at second so wouldn’t he be even worse at third?

  11. this is great. gleybar wasn’t going to fix the fact that we need a thumper at 3rd. he’s only marginally better than having tena over there
