  1. I see the benefit of having him back I just don't want to pay him or any QB a huge contract. If he wants to win he could stay here for 25-30 million. If he wants 50 million he should go to a team that will do that for him.

  2. People still arent understanding we can just tag him for next year. Doesnt have to be a big contract. Would have basically no impact on signings which we can backload. This is not difficult to understand.

  3. Honestly, would it be a bad thing to give JJ the Rodger's "treatment" and let him sit another year to learn and develop as a qb, one that's able to practice at 100%?

  4. Tagging is kind of a dirty move for the player and usually doesn't work out favorably. Vikings have only done it a few times. For all we know, Sammy's contract doesn't allow it. They're probably going to offer him a bridge deal and let him decide how much he wants to stay. Money isn't the issue. They're paying like $50MM at QB this year. It's just about how much they want to mortgage the future, and they're clearly still in "win now" mode, maybe a little by surprise. If it doesn't work out next year they could just take a step back, bench or trade Sam, and do a soft reboot with JJM. Personally I like Sam staying here for a bridge deal. JJM is very young and coming off an injury. I have no doubt he'll be the franchise QB in the long run. KOC is going to be here for the next decade, so they've got time.

  5. You act like the decision is already made when it definitely isn't , if darnold loses first round in playoffs or plays terrible in the playoffs that will be a huge red flag for minnesota. hence the reason they have not offered anything they want a qb that can win the playoffs meaning the regular season doesn't mean nearly as much. the vikings want 1 thing a super bowl can't put darnold on any pedistal until he gets there.

  6. I have a feeling Darnold would have no problem taking 30 mil a year or so to stay here and not chase an extra 10 mil or more a year elsewhere. Can simply never have too many Qbs especially one playing this well for us.

  7. Only KOC knows what he has in Darnold and JJ. It's refreshing to have a competent coach who can assess QB talents. I trust KOC will make the best decision. πŸ™Œ

  8. Hard to say amounts quite yet but hes lookin to be 40 million. We will see post season. Skol Darnold!! Bring on the packers! Detroit were comin'!! Skol!!πŸˆπŸˆπŸ’¨πŸ’¨

  9. I'm saddened at how quickly some fans want to throw McCarthy away. That money that would be used to re-sign Darnold for a multi-year deal, could bring in 2-3 ++ prospects which elevate the entire team. Those signings would also garner comp picks should we not be able to retain them. Let Darnold walk and two 20+ million players could be signed or three 15+ million dollar players. smh. I like Darnold, but I have no doubts JJ could develop the same chemistry with the weapons on this team.

A lot of Darnold's success (a non-quantifiable amount) HAS to be attributed to KoC, Jefferson, Addison, et al. And skillwise, JJ has better measurables.

  10. If you’re going to blow up the cap and sign Sam Darnold to franchise tag or a multi year deal, then recoup money via draft capital by shopping McCarthy for 2 number 1s …
