[Pelissero] The adjustment to Deshaun Watson’s contract doesn’t impact his ~$73M cap number in 2025 (which can happen later). It lets the #Browns spread the cap hit at the end of the contract, which expires after 2026 — a strong sign Watson will be in Cleveland two more years (at least).

  1. The hinting at cap management beyond his deal expiring and this says to me that he has agreed to an extra day in 2027 in his deal.

That would mean we can spread out the $80M on his cap hit for 2027, over 2027 and 2028 which would be ideal for us.

He was always going to be on the roster until 2026, this only helps us.

  2. Our fanbase has been handed a lot of bullshit in the past – team taken away, that team becomes a division rival, countless HC and GMs, Johnny Manziel, Hue Jackson and 0-16, 1-31, the Baker/OBJ bullshit. So much crap that we didn’t deserve and then to top it all off we end up with this motherfucker. All while Jimmy Haslam tries to build a new dome with $1000 a ticket pricing – for what? To watch this garbage every year? Good luck, asshole.

  3. It’s probably a minimal extra guarantee of a few million for cap flexibility. It’s the problem with the current GM and coach, tho as they are on the hot seat, they are going to continue to make short-term decisions that will negatively impact our future.

  4. Another desperate move by this FO. I guess what else can they do, especially if Myles is threatening to ask out if they don’t go all in again. Because good fucking luck with $40,000 PSLs and $3000 season tickets if you trade him.

  5. So they added the 2027 void year into a real year? That way instead of being subjected to the 70 million cap hit for cutting after next season it would be spread into two years?

  6. Go Lions! This team is not fun to watch cheer for at the moment. The owner, front office and quarterback are all trash.

  7. Been a fan my whole life, now, to watch them constantly have to rearrange deck-chairs on the Titanic brings me joy.

This is what they get for rewarding this guy and then trying to shove a new stadium down our throats for this team.

Pay for this shit yourself, Jimmy.

  8. I ended up stop watching after week 3 of the pain this year. Best weekends I’ve had in a long time. Guess this just means I’ll have to consider doing it next year to.

  9. I’m so sick of seeing Deshaun Watsons name. As a fan from the rebirth and all the BS I’ve seen, he is my least favorite player and it hurts doubly considering we dealt Baker and all the draft capital to get him. Just a tremendous let down and we are wasting Myles prime years as a result.

  10. I fucking hate Jimmy Haslam and our FO for thinking a man with allegations was worth all of this headache. That is all.

  11. I wish more people read tweets from those who understand what this means instead of from people who are doing work for Watson’s agent.

  12. Have we not reconciled ourselves to the fact that a guy who clearly has no moral compass scammed the Browns out of $250 million?

  13. I am canadian that was searching for an nfl team my entire life, after the 2016 parade i fell in love with the browns, baker, nick, kev and myles. I have watched every single game, cheered, cried(chubbs injury) have a couple jerseys, hats, toques, trivia books towels. My family know when they need to buy me a gift they cant go wrong with anything browns related. I fucking hate watson. I am ok with losing. I dunno guys, i love my brownies. But this is getting difficult.

  14. We already knew this was the case, we just didn’t want to believe it

We’re gonna lose Myles over this fuckery

  15. Worst contract in NFL history.

If he ever sees the field again, fans will boo him so loudly they’ll have to cut him on the spot.
