So timo can potentially get a fine/suspension but necas won’t because of embellishment on a play that was unintentional and was part of the play. But he can play it off like he’s injured and come back and play on the power play while timo is ejected? Makes sense
Necas leaned into the hit just as much as Timo dude. It wasn’t an intentional knee on knee play. If anything, Necas had the absolute ability to do the same exact thing back to Timo that happened to him.
To think a player (outside of, say, Marchand) purposefully tries to end guys by going knee on knee is pretty wild. Knees aren’t indestructible and absolutely can give way if hit even slightly improperly. Timo wouldn’t risk his own career because Necas was playing like a rat.
These games suck and are frustrating when they happen, but they’re necessary for young guys like Jack and Luke to grow. Jack does not play well in these kinds of games. He gets distracted, tries too hard, and we’ve seen the ENGs this season from that. I don’t mind these games hapoening if it gives Keefe a chance to coach these players out of them and help them overcome different kinds of adversity going forward.
I don’t even cared that they called the penalty. But going from not being able to get off the ice, to being back out 2 minutes later is bullshit.
sheldon keefe is the man. proud that he’s our coach
Yeah, he was.
The fact that Necas did a soccer style fake injury was irritating. So Keefe is right to call it out.
Fun fact
The Canes are 12-1-1 with that officiating crew that worked their game tonight.

Necas as he rolls around on the ice.
The officiating in this game was absolutely terrible (and I’m not a Devils fan) Necas should have got an unsportsmanlike penalty for embellishment and faking an injury not Timo.
The officiating over the two games was terrible. When the stick flies out of a guys hand, it’s a slash. I saw two incidents of that with no calls. Meir’s leg never moved on the major penalty, it was a good check. When the Devils meet the Canes in playoffs they need a heavy line up. Lazar got drilled in the head, and no calls. I’m f the refs aren’t going police the game, the players need too. I would rather McDermid in the lineup over Lazar or Tatar in a back to back situation. Refs hosed us!
I’ve been a football fan long enough to not play a loss on the refs but making the switch to hockey it’s hard to not put at least a healthy chunk on the officiating last night. Even my wife who doesn’t know it at all was baffled by the callings and how lopsided they were
I said it in the game thread but I’ll say it again here
A player hurt by something bad enough to be deemed a major and a game misconduct should be ineligible to return to play. You got hurt real bad, didn’t you? You need to get treatment and the league cares about player safety, right?
Fucking joke. Watch a narrative about Timo being a “repeat offender” start popping up because of his 1 game suspension a few weeks ago
I’ve also said this several times too: I need a congressional proctology exam into the officiating practices of the league
