Bill Simmons: “I was on Browns Reddit today, which is one of the darkest places on the internet. It’s just absolutely brutal. There’s even on Browns Reddit, a ‘should we make a run at Kirk Cousins this offseason?’ … It’s some of the darkest shit you’ll see.”

  1. Kirk cousins for a vet minimum while we develop a rookie qb isn’t the darkest timeline. Trading Myles and ward and losing Bitonio to retirement would set us back 5 more years. That’s what I’m more worried about

  2. Well what exactly about the current situation shows a light for us to be excited about? We are just as bad as 0-16?

  3. There’s a Bill Simmons subreddit where they discuss Bill Simmons content. THAT is the darkest shit on the internet.

  4. Try to pile as much shit on top of another franchise as we have on us now and see how dark it would be on their subreddits. I think we’re incredibly optimistic because if we weren’t nobody would give a crap about this team.

  5. Kirk cousins isn’t even bad lmao. He had a down year after a Achilles injury. He will cost a vet min if we do sign him. Isn’t this guy a patriot fan? Dude is delusional if he thinks that is dark.

  6. We have absolutely discussed QB plans far darker than Kirk Cousins on a vet minimum deal as the bridge for a rookie lol.

If you are reading this Bill, you should see the far more bleak ideas we have tried to sell ourselves on lol

  7. Welcome to the internet
    Have a look around
Anything that brain of yours can think of can be found
    We’ve got mountains of content
    Some better, some worse
If none of it’s of interest to you, you’d be the first

  8. Lol this is an accurate representation of this sub. It is dark as fuck in here but it’s truly been dark since the announcement of the Watson trade. We’ve been burdened by every non Browns fan brigading us in this sub and on r/NFL since then. We were middling in 2022 to really good in 2023 to outright awful this year.

Those last two years really masked how bad things were or could be for us. Watson missed 2/3 of the season in which the team was bad at 4-7, then went 3-3 when he arrived. Last year we looked good as a team with him, but again he only played a handful of games. Then we made the playoffs without him. He was bad in both of those seasons, but in ’22 it didn’t matter. He was rusty, we were out of the playoff hunt and the team suddenly was decent. In ’23, he was bad but the team was winning due to the amazing defense. The mask was off this year with him there from the beginning, and the defense not masking his awfulness. Everything came to a head, and it’s just horrible knowing he’s going to still be in this team next year, and maybe the year after. He’ll still be on their books until at least 2030 too.

  9. Kirk Cousins is just Dak Prescott with worse PR and fanfare

he’s not bad option on a minimum contract at all

  10. Bill Simmons hates Cleveland so much he’s spending his Sunday morning reading the Browns Reddit?

Get a life clown. Worry about your shitty ass Patriots.

  11. Cousins is cheap and knows Stefanski’s system. Worth a look since this draft class is blah.

  12. If this guy thinks Kirk Cousins is bad, wait until he hears about the sexual predator that’s the current quarterback

  13. I wouldn’t totally agree with this, but reading the comments put me in a bad place. Our team is in a bad spot, we’ve been here before. Hard to be optimistic when bad scenarios are more realistic than not.

  14. Bill’s a soft lil man. We are molded by the darkness. We embrace it. We expect it. Go Brownies.

  15. “The darkest shit”? No. I am pretty mystified by the hype to try to bring Cousins here though. I’m a fan of Kirko Chains but thinking he’s going to give us more than Jameis could in 2025 is a troubling line of thought. His play action pass was his biggest weapon and it’s not really there anymore.

The most appealing thing about Cousins is his price tag but bringing someone in for their price tag is not how you win.

Justin Fields maybe? He might get a better deal elsewhere though.

How about someone like Malik Willis? He kept Green Bay in the hunt when Jordan Love went down.

Sam Darnold is gonna get paid. Maybe Minnesota keeps him? Do we try to swing a deal for JJ McCarthy if they do? Taking a rookie who missed a whole season is questionable though.

  16. With nothing to base my predictions on I’m gonna predict Cousins on the browns would look like Matt Ryan on the Colts

  17. Let’s see, team should have been a playoff contender but is playing for the highest draft spot they can get. Watson drama, QB woes, unhappy players, new stadium that a fair amount of fans are not excited about. Ya think so Bill? Should it be a happy place of joy right now or just a place for us fans to discuss OUR thoughts without the extra input from others?

  18. There were folks talking about the potential of DTR up until a few weeks ago on here. It gets much darker.

  19. This coming from a guy that thinks Drake Maye is a good QB. Simmons ought to change his name to Ringling Bros to fully symbolize what a clown he is.

  20. at the end of the day this sub is full of passionate fans that seem to care more about the team than the actual ownership. if anything, the fans are the best thing the browns have got hahahah

  21. Didn’t he get his start in Boston covering their teams?

No way this offseason fan discussion is the darkest stuff he’s seen.

  22. I’m confused what Browns fans have been watching based on these comments. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 15 years, my friends and family who have had similar tenures are cancelling their tickets this year. I dislike Bill as much as the next guy but I don’t think he’s that off with this take. We mortgaged our future for easily the biggest piece of shit in the NFL. We survived in 2023 off sheer will and band-aids and had Joe Flacco not have an elite resurgence it could be much darker. I would say 2023 proved Stefanski can excel as a head coach with the right pieces.

This season is the darkest in my opinion. We have nothing to look forward to. We are saddled with this dude who sucks as a person and sucks as a QB through 2026, likely. Our defense regressed this year, our stars are aging, Chubb/JOK might never play again and Myles Garrett soft launched his trade request. I’m just wondering what everyone is looking at this season that makes you think we are even remotely close? Our draft hinges on a terrible GM who treats draft picks like they have no value and is a poor talent evaluator. I have zero faith he’ll be able to find the right pieces. It feels like a house of cards that’s about to fall at any minute.
