Ohtani spoke about returning to pitching on a television program. “Given my age, I think this is my last chance. The next time I get injured, I’ll be a veteran. It’s not realistic to go through another long period of rehabilitation.”

  1. 700 million dollar DH wouldn’t even be an insult now. That is just where the market is at now after Soto

  2. I think keeping Ohtani as just an elite DH isn’t the worst thing in the world. He’s got nothing else to prove.

  3. I’ve been thinking about this since the dodgers win. I understand that they paid him to be the dual threat he’s always been. But being that dual threat has lead to 2 tommy john surgeries. The dodgers can’t keep a pitcher healthy to save their lives so it’s not a good look for him to try to take on a full pitching load next season. I don’t want to see him destroy his arm and not even be able to bat DH by the end of the season and go into the playoffs without him.

  4. I personally would like to see how he does as 2 inning closer if he can’t start in the future.

  5. How many pitchers think this way. Yet again, how many pitchers can win an MVP as a hitter only player.

  6. Tbh he’s not saying anything we don’t already know, I think the Dodgers expect to get 3 years of pitching at absolute maximum out of his contract and everything else was based on his bat and his massive return-on-investment potential

  7. Soto owes Ohtani about 450 million dollars, the only reason the market got gouged so high is because Ohtani is/was such a good 2-way player, otherwise Ohtani would have been lucky to have gotten 300m for not even being an elite position player/defender.

Also they should bring back steroids, there’s gonna be more 500M+ DHs and people want to see them hit dingers. It’s a pitchers’ game, it’s hard to hit the ball, if you get just 1 hit every 3 tries that’s .333 hall of fame hitting. 50 HR a season is almost 1 every 4 games isn’t very often. IDK if it’s the balls are juiced or more pitchers throwing 95+ adds more rebound distance, or that players are taught to hit the ball up more now, but if Judge, Alonso, and Ohtani were on roids one of them would hit 100+ homers a season lol.

  8. If the dodgers cared about his health they wouldn’t let him pitch. Have him move to LF and put Teo as the DH.
