No more Pitching. Get a bat. Stop hugging prospects.
The Reds are always lagging behind the latest trends. The harsh reality is that the expanded playoffs have left many teams just one or two moves away from making it. Most clubs couldn't care less about talent in the low minors that's still two or three years out. Teams want major league-ready players. It's tougher than ever for teams receiving revenue sharing to improve. The expanded playoffs were meant to help smaller teams, but in truth, they're hurting them. With so many small teams believing they're close, none want to give up much, and they couldn't care less about a promising player in A or AA.
Moreover, the players a club is willing to trade are likely not going to help, because if they could, they wouldn't be available. The Reds did well to trade India for a starter who made all his starts last year. However, they missed an opportunity by not offering $80 million to Hernandez. When you have bad credit, you pay a higher rate. We gave Moose four years and $60 million, and he wasn't nearly the hitter Hernandez is. The only way to add talent is to pay for a free agent, but so far, we aren't willing. I foresee a similar year next year. Any minor moves will have blowhards claiming we're the next big thing and waxing poetic about all the young guys arriving at once. It could happen, but it has to, because if it doesn't, we're looking at an 83-79 team at best. More realistically, 75-87.
Could this free up Abbott for the stated major leaguer for major leaguer deal that t3ams ar3 asking for? Perhaps they've found a suitor that has a "press conference outfielder" that desires a package that includes Abbott.
87 days until March 27th …..42 days until February 10th
Knowing it may vary we'll be a trade to get a outfielder. Boston is looking for pitching help. Perhaps Andrew Abbott, or Nick Lodolo in on RF Wilyer Abreu ? Last year, Gold glove. 15 homers. Money wise right up the Red's alley.
Pivetta okay, but don't forget you need that right handed bat in the outfield. The right hand bat is not currently in our system.
This episode should be titled “Are the Reds about to Pivetta’nother starting pitcher?”
Signing Pivetta would allow them to trade Lodolo or Abbott for an outfielder. I'm not sold on Abbott. His FIP is around 5.00 over the last two seasons and his ground ball rate is lower than 30%.
He also fills in the hole Martinez leaves after 2025.
Noticed the same people that are happy with the India trade are the same people that are going to predict a worse season for the Reds in 2025 makes no sense
As far as Lodollo blisters should become calluses at some point. If our medical staff can’t help a kid with a blister, they need to sack them all.
Trade for Nick Castellanos
The Reds are still going to go get that right handed hitting outfielder… just as soon as the other teams make their spring training cuts. 😂
We’ve won 2 playoff games in 30 years… Sell the team
I don't think Reds are making anymore moves before 2025 trade deadline. It just seems like window shopping at best for the remainder of off-season. Can't have enough pitching, of course. I think that Krall&Co just want to keep Reds name in the news, to keep fans interested. The pivot to Pivetta isn't anything more than back page fodder. I hope am wrong, however, I think we've seen the extent of the acquisitions ~ happy2025everyone

I think Lodolo needs to stay I think he may have some of the best stuff on this team I think they need to give him one more chance to be healthy
Ain’t happening
I think it would be Abbott that gets traded, not Lodolo. He has more years of control left so I think he would have more trade value.
