Ignore the last line…but I was surprised by this stat 👀

If he keeps playing that way he could be.
Yes
We’re just making stats up now. I’m here for it
No, he is not. He may have the most big time throws, but he’s also in the situation where they’re needed more than any of the others listed. The other guys are playing with leads and can be more conservative.
Nope I’ve seen enough. Bryce for MVP 2025
I’m not surprised even if the stats haven’t been eye popping he’s had multiple throws every game that make you say “that’s it, that’s why he was a number 1 pick!”

#Bryce “Big Time” Young
I’d say a good chunk of those probably come from us playing from behind in most of these games, necessitating these types of “big time throws.” I don’t want to label BY “the best QB in the NFC” because that could very much come back to bite us. We need to win games, start strong and hold leads, and show that we can perform in all manner of circumstances before we can throw out that title.
All this means realistically is that BY is having a considerable impact on our offense, as you’d want from a first round pick. It shows that we’re doing well in these games because of him. However, we need to see another year or two of his play to see if he can improve further (especially with holding onto the ball) and if he can start a season picking up from where he left off. We need to see a complete season out of him.
Cool stats. If we have a full year of receivers catching more of those big time passes and no regression from Bryce, i think it will be really fun to watch.
5 wins in two seasons.. lol
As a Panthers fan, you love to see it. Always been a big believer in giving Bryce a fair shot and he is really starting to show performances you want to see. You also love to see this because it means the line is buying enough time for plays to actually develop, and we have guys who can get down the field and create separation. Neither was the case last year.
Now that said, as a rational fan of the sport and general party pooper, I think this is not a particularly great comparison stat by itself. My thoughts are:
1. I’d be curious to know the time on the clock and score of the game when these throws occurred. I LOVE to see that we can make them, but if we are trying to somehow use this as a comparison point, it might end up saying more about us trailing and having to make big, desperation throws to get back in the game compared to teams that dominate and can just play clean and on their terms (see Jared Goff lol). Nobody would doubt any of those three QBs can’t connect on deep shots if they needed to more regularly.
2. I’d also be interested to know whether we are intentionally calling deep shots more regularly just to survey how we manage. Definitely the year of rebuilding, getting tape on guys, and getting reps of everything in as a unit, so we want a variety of looks. Like I mentioned, no coach is going to doubt if Hurts or Goff can hit a deep ball if he needs to. We’re still seeing how our guys can manage.
The carolina reaper.
This is a really fancy way of saying his ball placement has been good and for the most part yeah it’s been great.
Yeah, coming into this year it was “can he show us something, anything, to make us believe”.
This is one hell of a thing.
Now, they just need to put it all together on a consistent basis.
Hurts has stud WR’s. Goff has a probowl wr and te. Daniels has a probowl wr. Bryce is just getting by
Yikes
Imagine if Carolina followed the Chiefs playbook and had Bryce sit his rookie season behind Dalton like Patrick sat behind Alex Smith his rookie season.
He’s the best QB in the league in my head canon
I want you to put the word out that we back up
How many does darnold have?
How many wins?
Ah yes, that timeless HOF indicator of Big Time Throws.
If you can lead in a stat and be 4-12, that stat doesn’t matter.
I mean, I am not saying that Bryce Young is literally the greatest football player ever, and Tom Brady calls him daddy.
But I’m not NOT saying that, yaknowhatimean?
Commanders fan here, and I’m rooting for BY, his turn around has been a great story, and he’s such a nice kid.

All that said, the [big time throw](https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-sam-howell-washington-commanders-sacks#:~:text=He%20has%20the%20ability%20to,most%20dropbacks%20in%20the%20league.&text=When%20Howell%20is%20able%20to,his%20legs%2C%20he's%20a%20weapon) stat always seemed to show Sam Howell was good, when in fact he was just creating his own pressure and pulling some cowboy shit occasionally
