I do love looking back at prospect lists from drafts prior (I’m aware those look very different than WJC MVP, but I liked this graphic), and with the exception of the mcdavid / mathews of the world we almost never know how good these prospects will be. Poehling looked like a skill guy coming into the league, Lafreniere was being compared to Crosby, god only knows what kinda player Zegras is / will be. Just something to keep in mind when evaluating our current prospects / future draft picks!

  1. Puljujaarvi played on absolute kill line in that WJC and looked like a stud. Edmonton broke him man

  2. I posted it before, but for shits and giggles go look at Risto’s play from when he was 16-19ish and read some scouting reports on him.  He was touted as an offensive defenseman with great skating, high end passing and awareness, great hockey IQ and two way play.  His downside being a lack of physicality and aggression! Haha.

    Enter…Buffalo…

Turns out you can REALLY shape a player during the first 3-4 years in the league.  Might explain some of Torts decisions lately.
