It’s been nearly two weeks since LeBron James informed the Los Angeles Lakers that would be taking his talents elsewhere next season, and the NBA world has waited on bated breath to see where he will sign ever since.

Some are hoping we get the answer today. James is expected to make an appearance at the Fanatics Fanfest in New York City, on Thursday, July 16, and the rumor machine is working overtime with theories that he could make his decision at the event.

The latest prediction markets still have a return to Cleveland as the most likely outcome for the King, but the Golden State Warriors are making up ground with the Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly all still in the mix.

While LeBron’s return to Cleveland is still the most likely outcome according to the latest prediction markets, the Cavaliers price contines to dip. Just oover a week ago the market sat at 59%. Maybe traders think the nostalgia factor is a big reason for LeBron to come home one more time. But as this process rolls on it might not be the best basketball fit. Playing with Donovan Mitchell would be great, and having Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen to protect the rim make up for LeBron’s defensive shortcomings. But it feels like Cleveland would have to move James Harden to make this work.

Golden State Warriors (29%)

The Warriors have seen the most movement in this market. They opened this process as the favorite with most people loving the idea of LeBron pairing up with Steph Curry so the future Hall of Famers could push for one final title together after being rivals for so long. But their price dropped drastically when it was thought this roster was too old to contend and they wouldn’t be able to acquire Anthony Daivs. However, after Curry publicy coming out saying he wants to team up with James, and reportedly spending some time with Draymond Green in Puerto Rico last week Golden State has bounced all the back to the second favorite in this market.

Miami Heat (13%)

The bump in the market for the Warriors seems to have come at the expense of the Heat, who now just have a 3% chance of landing LeBron. That said, the other homecoming for LeBron can’t be overlooked. It may not be teaming up Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, but you can make the case Giannis Antetokounmpo would be his best teammate ever. And the two on the court togther is tantalizing to think about.

Philadelphia 76ers (9%)

It feels like the 76ers have made teh biggest public push to acquire James, but the market is saying that’s mostly smoke. Even with the acquisition of Jaylen Brown, and Tyrese Maxey also being a Rich Paul client this market has held steady in the 10% range.

Minnesota Timberwolves (3%)

The Timberwolves are the long shot of the teams that are assumed to still be in the running for Lebron but it feels like this is the destination most NBA nerds want. Not only fans, but former players and reports are making the pitch that pairing up with Anthony Edwards is not only the best move for his basketball, but his legacy as well. Which is something that James clearly still cares about.
