  1. Oh boy, I can’t wait till we do nothing else at the deadline, then Dana says “getting Garcia, JV, and Tucker back is like a trade on its own”

I’m still mad about that trade. Fuck.

  2. “Don’t make a stupid trade to distract from yesterday’s” … challenge.

  3. I have a feeling a lot of fans will be showing their opinions at the game today.

  4. Good luck Hunter gonna need you to somehow go 8 innings after yesterday’s disaster.

  5. Can’t wait to see what shitty pitcher or useless bat Dana trades for today

  6. > With these characters trades, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of Fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.

  7. I live how the pitching lines show how useless pitching wins and losses stats are

  8. Here’s the two concerning things about Kikuchi:

    – He gives up a _lot_ of hard contact, with an average LA of about 15 degrees. Putting that in a hitters park like MMP, with a short left field (presumably since he’s going to face a lot of RHH), is a recipe for disaster.
    – He’s had issues with confidence before, even going as far to admitting that the “win now” pressure is what has caused him to underperform.

This trade has the potential to be very disastrous.

  9. Does anyone else feel like we just lost a playoff series… like that’s the level of sad I am right now.

  10. I have faith in our pitching development to tweak Kikuchi and make this trade at least somewhat manageable. But man it was sad to see Joey so beat up about leaving Houston. Let’s keep our heads high and continue the fight!

  11. Trying to look at this trade logically now that I’ve had a nights sleep to digest it. I don’t think this was Dana’s decision. I think there was a SP mandate from up above considering Javier, Urquidy, LMC, Garcia, and JV have all been shelved for some time. The market is what it is.. Everyone knew we needed a starter and that’s the cost of doing business.

We were not going to make a deep playoff run with our current rotation. I think they value Blubaugh more than Bloss and tbh, Wagner was never really on our radar with Zach Dezenzo being the better prospect at 3rd.

Losing lope sucks, but I think this could mean that we may have some type of agreement worked out with Tucker down the road, which would make Lope unplayable anyway. Kikuchi is serviceable and will be a good addition to the back end of a very depleted rotation. A half year rental is not ideal, but his contract was front heavy at $16M in ’22 and $10M in ’23. He’s low cost at $3.3M this year. Let’s give it a chance before going full r/Mariners.

  12. Astros with Loperfido 35-20
    Astros without Loperfido 20-31

I hope the trade didn’t ruin the vibes and this stat becomes as significant a marker as the Astros record with and without Jose Abreu.

  13. I don’t like this Dana brown guy at all. Nothing he has done has made me be like hell yeah. Dana Brown is the type of guy who pays 40 for a gram. I bet Dana Brown was getting fleeced for his juice box on the playground. Also I can’t forget to thank Hader, I got a good night’s sleep. I was able to go to bed early. Since he was Oprah with the fucking homeruns.

  14. I am still enraged at the way the FO got played yesterday for a bullshit rental, especially seeing other teams giving up far less for one. This is not healthy for me. I may have to step away and take a break from baseball for a while.

  15. I was really excited about this week on the idea of trades and who are we going to add. Now I hope we just go quietly because I can’t imagine what we give up going after Yandy Diaz

  16. Somehow went from the best win of the year, walking off the Dodgers to three days later gutting the farm and a BP implosion.

    Rollercoaster of emotions

    * When you think an Astro is about to hit a home run, comment ‘HRC [Astro]’

    * If you get it right, you get a point and another go! Otherwise, wait until tomorrow.

    * I’ll monitor successful picks and publish the leaderboard in the GDT before first pitch every day. Let me know if you think I’ve missed you, or if you have any other questions.

I’m happy to count HRCs on the live game chat on [Discord](https://discord.gg/astros) as well, but please stick to the one HRC per game rule regardless of platform (if your username on there isn’t the same as on Reddit I might have to PM you to get it).

  18. Just more worried that Dana is only really scouting and maneuvering the roster while the “back of the baseball card” guys – Reggie, bagwell – are making the moves for free agent and trades…. That would be even worse than just Dana doing it. You can always fire Dana, but Crane’s cronies are a lot harder to dismiss. You think that was really Dana that wanted Hader?? Jim Crane wanted him before Dana was here at the last trade deadline if I remember. I’m not excusing Dana at all though if this is true. He should have stood his ground in this fleecing.

  19. Ok so here’s some copium on Kikuchi (pls note this is not an attempt to justify the trade at all as it was a massive overpayment by us. This is just to show that Kikuchi in and of himself is not as terrible of a pitcher as we are making it seem)

*Kikuchis BABIP this year is .344, the highest ever of his career. TOR has the 23rd best fielding pct in the league, the Astros have the 5th best. Having a better defense behind him will help.

    * His HR and BB rates are the lowest of his career.

    * His FIP is at the lowest of his career for a full seasons work.

Again, not justifying the trade, but that he is an immediate improvement to our starting rotation for the rest of the year. Just don’t look at the WAR difference between who we gave up and what we got in 5 years

  20. Going to be a weird twitter Tuesday..

I have a question: “what in the flying fuck?”

  21. I’m hoping this means the Astros can get a big return some time next year, since I think they’re gonna have a surplus of starting pitchers. It was supposed to be this year but injuries happened.
